Physical Data Modeling

The Importance of Data Modeling as a Foundation for Business Insight. This is a white paper I coauthored with Larissa Moss for Teradata. In the first half of this paper, Larissa explores the origin and significance of data modeling, as well as the concepts and principles behind the technique. In the second half, I focus on physical data modeling by describing the various mature and proven database design options available for BI/DW databases. And, at the conclusion of this paper, a case study is presented to further underscore the concepts put forth.

The Data Administration Newsletter	I really enjoy reading TDAN. Practical data modeling and meta data articles from the experts.
Data Management Review	Nice search mechanism through all of their magazines. Good place to start if you need to research a data topic
–Data Management Center	Great portal to lots of data modeling sites. Also expert centers, book reviews, and data management happenings.
Teradata	Great collection of white papers free for the taking. You don't need to work with Teradata to benefit from many of the articles.
Data modeling tools comparison	Barry has a comprehensive listing of modeling tool vendors along with links to their sites.
Time Dimension	This website not only contains a very comprehensive time dimension, it also has the data to go along with it!
